I am wondering if this platform extended out onto the beach in those days, or if the beach was much skinnier then and this was the dance floor. Anyone know?

I remember when the dance was surrounded by a square rail, just as this is, with an edge on the top side. This was true through most of the fifties until the cider-block wall, upon which we all sat, replaced it.

the postcards on here are actually from white crystal beach rather than crystal beach manor.that could be causing some confusion, as they appear similar, yet are not the same place.

The platform at White Crystal extended out, but not the one at Crystal Beach Manor. At one time everyone went to White Crystal in the evening. Then one summer the owner decided to block the walk up the beach and you had to drive around. (big mistake) People stopped going up there and stayed at the Manor at night.

By the way, I still have a scar on my back from trying to crawl under the fence between the beaches.
